The Facility

Swiftwind Equine Center is at Swiftwind Farms in Lyndhurst.  This 100 acre property is a working beef cattle and cash crop operation with horses.

The property provides:

  • cash crop fields

  • grass and woodlands' pastures with trails

  • Two outdoor arenas of different sizes

  • Machine shed with a variety of machinery

  • Upper Room is a gathering place with library, activities, and lessons

The barn itself has:

  • Horse stalls

  • Tack bays

  • Tack room

  • Large cattle pen

  • Small cattle pen

Meet the Owner

Swiftwind Equine Center is owned by Tanya Sweet.  She is also the education leader and Working Equitation Instructor.  Tanya co-owns Swiftwind Farms with her husband for over 16 years.  Their farm operates over four hundred acres with crops, beef cattle and horses.  She has been involved with agriculture and horses since childhood.  She spent a large majority of her childhood on her grandfather's beef cattle farm.  Additionally, her aunt boarded horses at the farm.  This opportunity gave Tanya constant interactions with horses.  Tanya has casually ridden horses since her teen years but became dedicated in her twenties.  She competed as a hunter in the schooling and Trillium level shows.  Her educational credentials are:

  • Child and Youth Worker/Counselor (diploma from St. Lawrence College)

  • Certified Equine First Aid and Standard First and CPR

  • Management of Equine Environment certificate (university of Guelph)

  • Biosecurity and Sickness Prevention in Horses Certificate (University of Guelph)

  • Equine Business 101 Certificate (University of Guelph)

  • Horse Care and Welfare Certificate (University of Guelph)

  • Equine Facility Management Certificate (University of Guelph)

  • Equine-related and business-related workshops, clinics and webinars.

 Tanya also worked in schools, kid/youth programs and multiple riding/boarding facilities.  She has volunteered with the local 4H chapter.  Tanya has extensive knowledge about the agriculture community, horsemanship, animal welfare, and the equine industry.  She developed relationship and rapport within the community.
