Meet the Owner
Swiftwind Equine Center is owned and led by Tanya Sweet, who also serves as the center’s education leader and riding instructor. Tanya and her husband have co-owned Swiftwind Farms for over 20 years, where they manage more than 300 acres of crops, beef cattle, and horses.
Tanya’s love of agriculture and animals began in childhood. She grew up on her grandfather’s beef cattle farm, where her aunt also boarded horses—giving Tanya opportunities to learn, ride, and build a lifelong passion for horsemanship. She began riding casually as a teen and became more dedicated in her twenties, developing skills in English riding, dressage, foundational training, Working Equitation, and balance with both English and Australian saddles. Over the years, she has competed in hunter classes at schooling and Trillium-level shows, and today she enjoys competing in Western horse shows.
Her educational background includes:
Child and Youth Worker/Counselor Diploma (St. Lawrence College)
Certified Equine First Aid, Standard First Aid & CPR
University of Guelph Equine Certificates: Management of the Equine Environment, Biosecurity and Sickness Prevention, Equine Business 101, Horse Care & Welfare, and Equine Facility Management
Ongoing learning through equine and business workshops, clinics, and webinars
Tanya has also worked in schools, youth programs, and at multiple riding and boarding facilities. She has volunteered with her local 4-H chapter and continues to share her extensive knowledge of agriculture, animal welfare, and the equine industry with her community.
At Swiftwind, Tanya combines her professional training with her lifelong passion to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where kids, families, and riders of all levels can learn and grow alongside horses.
